San Cataldo is a city on Sicily in the
Province of Caltanissetta. It has 23177 citizens and spreads over a area of309 qkm.
The township San Cataldo was founded in 1607 by Nicolò Galletti and lived for a long time on sulphur and salt mines. Beside several churches, the Piazza dei Eroi with its memorial for war victims as well as an archaeological excavation of an old colony from the Bronze Age are worth seeing.
